BIOGRAPHY

 

 

Thank you for taking the time to join me here today.

I would like to introduce myself and wish you a very warm welcome to my website, where you will find all the relevant information about my Bass and guitar lessons as well as my other services, together with other Bass / Guitar and other Music related topics, which will all be addressed in my blogs found here on this site.

 

My name is Gary Bennett but I am also known as "Biscuit" by friends, Students and colleagues alike.

As a full time Professional Musician and Tutor of many years  I have aquired a vast amount of experience and knowledge enabling me to teach you all the things that you will need to know in order for you to  become an accomplished Bass player or Guitarist.

From the very basics such as posture, tuning and setting up your instrument to advanced playing techniques and music theory application, I can help you become the musician you want to be, so whether you just want to learn for fun or wish to become a full time musician, there are no restrictions.

I teach all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced, incorporating the use of official RGT (Registry of Guitar Tutors) Graded books.

I am a RGT@LCM Registered Tutor and also a member of the D'Addario Education Collective and an endorsing artist for BOSS, D'Addario/Planet Waves, Hartke, Hypnotic, and Xvive and have 30 years experience in the music industry, including teaching and live performance together with studio/recording work and music journalism both at home in the United Kingdom and also internationally.

I have experience in all styles of music and offer lessons in all genres to all ages, so if you are serious about the Bass or Guitar or even the Ukelele and are eager too learn, I am the Tutor you have been looking for.

Music has always been a big passion in my life and I began learning by to play Bass and Guitar by studying many of the songs that I had had come to Love over the years and which had inspired me to get started.

After about 4 years once I felt confident enough in myself and my ability, I followed the familiar route of joining various different bands incorporating many different styles of Music from Motown to Metal, playing and recording both covers and original songs and along the way this included  session work for various Artist's and projects,.. all of which was gained pretty much by word of mouth.

 

It wasn't until many years later that I decided to put my own album of instrumental tunes together that things really took off.

After 18 months of work I released my collection of songs onto "MySpace" and within a relatively short space of time I had gained around 50.000 listens.

This led to me being discovered by Larry Hartke (Hartke Bass Amplification Systems) in 2007, who contacted me and offered me an endorsement deal with his company after hearing my music.

Larry informed me that he had been looking for his "Hartke's...Best unsigned" Bass player, and that after careful consideration he had awarded me that honour along with only 2 other players Worldwide.

This is a title of which I have always been very proud of, and which began a wonderful business relationship and friendship with Larry, and one which I am sure will be a partnership that will last a lifetime.

 

During 2011 I was also offered endorsing Artist status with both D'Addario/Planet Waves, BOSS, and also Hypnotic straps a year or two later.

In 2014 I was accepted as an Artist into the Ibanez "Family" and in December 2017 I was asked to join the Xvive company as an Artist too, after being seen using their Xvive U2 wireless system, for which I felt honoured and of course was very proud to accept their kind invitation.

As of January 2018 I was accepted by the London College of Music as a fully certificated RGT@LCM Registered Tutor and this was followed a few months later by an offer from Tanglewood Guitars UK to join them as well.

And after many years of working hard towards and hoping and praying, in 2021 I was finally accepted by Fender Vice president Joey Brasler as an official endorsing Artist for Fender. 

​

All of the above companies in my opinion are faultless with regards to both their customer care and the very high quality of equipment and service and I am very proud to be an ambassador for them all, and I welcome questions with regards to any of their products or services.

In addition to the above, I have also been involved with  music journalism and have written my own columns which have been published in both "Bass Musician Magazine" USA and also "Bass Guitar Magazine" UK.
